Tall Grass Safaris

Africa

Tall Grass Safaris has conceived a breakthrough in the safari industry - Credi-Hunt™. For the first

time you will be able to hunt on credit! What we plan to do is give clients the opportunity to partake in an

African safari, pay only a section of the total hunt cost and pay the remaining balance off in periods of 3,6 or 9

months by postdated cheque or electronic funds transfer. The idea is to make hunting in Africa more accessible

in this time of economic uncertainty. We will be running this program across the board as it will be applicable

to all our safaris.

If you have any queries with regard to this offer – Please let us know how we can help.

Africa

Tall Grass Safaris has compiled a number of exciting new packages for the 2009 season.

Thanks to the exchange current exchange rate we are able to provide you, our valued customer with better prices

Tall Grass Safaris asked Gerrit Riekert from Burns Taxidermy what his thoughts were on having

taxidermy work done in South Africa.

Here follows his statement:
In the unforeseen event where your trophies are damaged during field preparation or transport, it is much

easier for a taxidermist in South Africa to replace capes and skins.

There are more options available to rectify the problem in South Africa then for a taxidermist in the

US or anywhere else in the world.

Another reason is that a typical African animal has short hair and lives in a warmer environment.

The stress of salting, drying, shipping, rehydrating for dipping and the tanning process before

mounting the trophy is lengthy and very harsh to the delicate skins.

Time alone can result in damage due to parasites and bacteria.

It is far better to have your trophies processed as quickly as possible.

Tall Grass Safarisalso enquired what Rupert Dedekind from Universal Trophy's thought

about having raw preparation done in South Africa as opposed to other countries.

Here follows his thoughts:

Dirk

My views have always been and even more so now with the economic situation, raw prep is definitely

the way to go. Everything is becoming more and more expensive, clients can still afford to hunt in SA

and even do their taxidermy work here but with the shipping costs increasing it is becoming very very

costly. More than that the shipping here in SA and the clearing and delivery costs in the US are all

related to the size of the crate, thus making mounted trophies very expensive to land at the clients door.

The shipping on the raw prep is still costing roughly 90 – 100 US per trophy up and to port in the US.

It takes 3 - 4 months and the client has his trophies, he then has the time to decide how quick he wants

his trophies mounted.

The tanning option also adds a considerable saving on the shipping costs. On average, a tanned

consignment is 30% cheaper than the same consignment sent raw as there is a 30% reduction in weight.

The capes then also don’t need to be sent to a central tannery to be tanned thus saving time.

Raw prep allows the client to get his trophies back to his home country quickly, without costing him t

much money; he is happy, all has worked well, good hunt and no problems with his trophies and he

ready is ready to book the next safaris because, he has in his possession that which he paid for and it

did not take a year or two to receive it.

HIGHVELD HUNTING AREA

Hunting and Fishing Outfit in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

Come and experience various South-African wildlife species and find out just how close you can get to nature

on our 2000 hectares of wild undulating grasslands.

We offer excellent family breakaways and wildlife experiences in a rustic but tranquil way. The farm is tucked

away in a valley between the Amajuba Mountains. The beauty and variety of the gold and green grasslands

offers a wide range of game species namely Gemsbok, Waterbuck, Eland, Zebras, Black Wildebeest, Blesbuck,

Oribi, Red Hartebeest, Springbuck, Impala, Reedbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Warthog and Ostriches.

What makes this farm unique is that we are home to some exquisite desert savannah species like the Gemsbok,

Springbuck and Eland antelope. These animals were all bred on the farm and has adapted wonderfully to this

lush grassland environment.

Southern Africa is a haven for fishermen and there are numerous spots in this magnificent

part of the world where you can go tiger fishing. Jozini Lake in KwaZulu Natal South Africa

is one of the best spots. Tiger fishing on Jozini Lake or the Zambezi is not for your casual

fisherman – the African Tiger Fish is a fearsome game fish that will put up a serious

challenge for even the most experienced of fishermen.

You could venture along the rivers in Zimbabwe, Angola, Namibia and Zambia on your hunt for this magnificent fish but

if you don’t feel like travelling out of South Africa then tiger fishing at Jozini Lake is probably your best bet. Jozini Lake

covers over 40 000 acres bordering the Pongola Game Reserve. While Tiger fishing on Jozini Lake you may be able to

spot four of Africa’s big five along with various species of exotic African birds and multiple families of hippos.

As this area is a reserve it is highly susceptible to ecological changes and so most tiger fisherman on Jozini Lake

operate on a catch and release policy – the fun being in the fight.

Because of Jozini Lake’s geographical location in KwaZulu-Natal it can be visited at any time of year as the

tropical climate provides warm weather all year round, although prime fishing time is in the summer months

when the water temperature is higher. (This is from September to April).

The Boat can accommodate up to 6 people
Included:
The boat for the whole day
All fishing gear
The skipper
Lunch pack
All water and soft drinks on the boat extra.
